Blanco 443154 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Blanco 443154 air switch set do on a sink installation?
It is an air switch for a sink, the push button that turns a garbage disposal on and off from the countertop or sink deck instead of a wall switch. Pressing the button sends a puff of air down a tube to a control box wired to the disposal, so there is no line voltage at the button itself. Blanco sells it as a set under part number 443154.
2) What finish does the Blanco 443154 air switch come in?
Satin Gold, and that is the only finish this part number covers. If the faucet and sink strainer on the job are a different finish, order the matching Blanco air switch part number rather than this one, since the button is the visible piece sitting on the deck next to the faucet.
3) Do I still need an electrician to install a disposal air switch like the Blanco 443154?
The button and its air tube are low risk, but the control box the tube plugs into is wired between the receptacle and the disposal, so line voltage work is involved. Property managers doing a single unit swap usually have their electrician or plumber terminate the box; the deck button itself only needs a hole in the countertop or an unused sink deck hole.
4) Can I put the Blanco 443154 air switch in the spare soap dispenser hole in my sink?
That is the usual spot for it. A disposal air switch button mounts in a deck hole and is commonly fitted into an unused accessory hole in the sink or drilled into the countertop behind the sink. Confirm the hole diameter on your sink against the button's shank before you commit, and keep the run to the disposal short enough for the supplied air tube.
5) Is the Blanco 443154 a faucet part or a disposal control?
It is a disposal control, not a faucet component. The 443154 is an air switch set for a sink, the deck mounted push button and air line assembly used to switch a garbage disposal. It does not carry water and has nothing to do with the faucet cartridge or supply lines.
