1) What is the Blanco Performa Cascade sink made of, and will it hold up to heavy cookware in a rental kitchen?
SILGRANIT is the material, made from quartz sand, the hardest element of natural granite. Blanco builds the PERFORMA line to take heavy cookware and hot bakeware straight out of the oven. The surface is non-porous and smooth, so scuff marks from utensils and food and drink stains wipe off rather than soaking in. For a property manager turning units, that non-porous surface is the practical part: there is no grout-like texture to stain, and the undermount rim leaves no lip for grime to collect behind.
2) Can the Blanco PER4400SIKS be drop-in installed, or does it have to be undermount?
Undermount only. The Performa Cascade is built as an undermount sink, mounted beneath the counter so the countertop edge finishes the opening and there is no rim sitting on the deck. That means it needs a solid-surface counter that can be cut and polished at the sink opening (stone, quartz, solid surface) and undermount support brackets or clips below. It will not work on a laminate counter without a purpose-built undermount-rated top.
3) Does the Blanco Performa Cascade sink come with a drain or basket strainer?
No. The basket strainer is sold separately on the PER4400SIKS, so budget a strainer plus tailpiece and trap on every install. What does come in the box is the mesh colander. If you want the decorative drain cover, that is Blanco item #517666 and it is also ordered separately.
4) What does the "Cascade" part of the Blanco Performa Cascade sink actually do?
It is a two-level single bowl. The main bowl is a spacious single, and there is an integrated second level built into it for drying, depositing and draining. The point is separation: clean dishes go on the upper tier while dirty ones stay in the main bowl. That upper level is where the included mesh colander sits for rinsing produce and utensils.
5) What accessories fit the Blanco Performa Cascade, and what are the item numbers?
Three optional Blanco accessories are called out for the Performa Cascade: the grid, item #222472, the cutting board, item #222591, and the decorative drain cover, item #517666. Order those by number rather than by description, since Blanco grids and boards are cut to a specific bowl. The mesh colander is already included, so you do not need to add one.
6) What colors does the Blanco Performa Cascade SILGRANIT sink come in?
Nine SILGRANIT colors, and each is a separate order number: White 440066, Soft White 443085, Cafe 440063, Truffle 441291, Metallic Gray 440067, Volcano Gray 443122, Cinder 441476, Anthracite 440064, and Coal Black 442936. SILGRANIT color goes through the material rather than sitting on top as a coating, so a chip does not show a different color underneath. If you are matching a sink already installed in a building, match on the Blanco color name, not on a photo.
7) Should I go with a single bowl like the Blanco Performa Cascade or a double bowl kitchen sink?
The Cascade is a middle path. It is a single bowl, so you get one uninterrupted basin for roasting pans and sheet trays that a divided double bowl cannot take, but the integrated second level gives you somewhere to set clean or draining items without a full second basin eating your width. Go to a true double bowl if you need two independent basins that can hold water at once, say for washing and rinsing separately or for a disposal on one side only. Choose the Cascade when oversized cookware is the constraint and you still want clean and dirty separated.
