Bobrick 2974 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size paper towel rolls does the Bobrick B-2974 dispenser take?
The B-2974 holds a roll up to 8 inches wide by 8 inches in diameter. It is a roll towel dispenser only, so folded, multifold or C-fold towels won't work in it. If your building is standardized on folded towels, you would be switching paper stock as well as dispensers.
2) Does the Bobrick B-2974 need to be hardwired, or will it run on batteries?
Either. It runs from an AC adapter or from 4 alkaline D cells. The batteries are not included, and neither is a power source you can count on being at the wall, so decide up front: battery power avoids pulling a circuit into a finished restroom, while AC removes the battery-change task from your janitorial route.
3) Does the B-2974 need to be recessed into the wall, or can it mount on the surface?
Surface mounted, wall mounted. There is no wall cavity or rough-in to cut, which is why it suits a retrofit into an existing tiled or block restroom where you are replacing a manual dispenser and don't want to open the wall.
4) How does the automatic towel dispenser dispense, and what is the LED light for?
It's a no-touch motion sensor unit, so the user waves a hand rather than pulling a lever or a tab. The LED is an activation indicator that shows where the sensor zone is, which cuts down on people waving at the wrong part of the cabinet and calling it broken.
5) Is the Bobrick B-2974 dispenser lockable for a public restroom?
The door has a flush lock and a full piano hinge, so paper stock is secured against pilferage in a high-traffic public washroom and the door won't sag after repeated servicing. The cabinet is satin-finish stainless steel, which takes the abuse and cleans up better than a painted or plastic housing.
6) What finish does the B-2974 come in if I'm matching other washroom accessories?
One finish only: satin stainless steel. That's the standard satin (brushed) stainless most commercial washroom accessory lines are built in, so it lines up visually with satin stainless grab bars, mirrors and soap dispensers already on the wall. There is no mirror-polish or painted option.
