Intuitive, user-friendly light directs users to towel activation zone. Satin-finish stainless steel. Door has a flush lock and piano-hinge. Provide a rough wall opening with the dimensions 13" W, 16" H and 4" D minimum (330 x 405 x 102mm). Extends 5 1/4" (130mm) from wall. Unit can be powered by AC adapter or 4 Alkaline "D" Cells (not included). Note: Due to a product design improvement, the rough wall opening was changed as of February 2023. A retro-fit kit (29744-135) is available which allows the installation of the new (smaller) unit into the larger wall opening that was required for units made prior to February 2023.

Bobrick 29744 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) I'm replacing an older Bobrick B-29744 and the wall opening is too big. Is there a fix?
Yes. The rough opening spec changed in February 2023 when the unit was redesigned smaller. Bobrick sells retro-fit kit 29744-135, which lets the current unit install into the larger opening cut for pre-February 2023 units. Order it with the dispenser if you are swapping into an existing wall cut rather than framing new.
2) What size paper towel rolls fit the Bobrick B-29744?
It takes roll towel with a 1-1/2 inch to 2 inch core, up to 8 inches in diameter and 8 inches wide. If your facility currently buys hardwound rolls outside that core or diameter range, they will not load.
3) Does the B-29744 need an electrical outlet in the wall?
Not necessarily. The dispenser runs on 4 alkaline D cells, which are not included, or on an AC adapter, Bobrick part 3974-57, sold separately. If you want hardwired-style power you need to run the adapter and provide an outlet inside or near the recess; otherwise plan battery changes into your MRO schedule.
4) Should I use a semi-recessed towel dispenser or a fully surface-mounted one?
Semi-recessed is the middle option: it needs a framed opening in the wall but only about 4 inches of wall cavity depth, and it still projects 5-1/4 inches into the room. Choose it in corridors and restrooms where a surface unit would stick too far into clearance space but you cannot get a full recess depth. If the wall is solid block or tile over concrete with no cavity, a surface-mounted dispenser is the practical choice instead.
5) How does the B-29744 dispense, and how does a user know where to wave their hand?
It is a touchless motion-sensor dispenser. A built-in LED light marks the activation zone under the unit, so users do not have to hunt for the sensor, which cuts down on people grabbing at the towel stub in high-traffic public restrooms.
6) Is the Bobrick B-29744 secure enough for a public restroom?
The door is stainless steel with a flush tumbler-style lock and a full piano hinge, so the door cannot be pried off at the hinge side and the cabinet stays closed against tampering. Construction is satin-finish stainless steel throughout, which holds up to cleaning chemicals and vandalism better than plastic housings.
