NUVO Lighting 65-825R1 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Will the NUVO 65-825R1 vapor tight fixture run on 277V or 347V in a commercial building?
Yes. The 65-825R1 is a universal-input fixture rated 120V through 347V, so it drops onto 120, 208, 240, 277 or 347 volt circuits without a separate driver selection. That makes it workable on both standard US commercial panels and 347V Canadian distribution.
    2) How much light and wattage does the 8 foot NUVO vapor proof linear fixture put out, and can I change it in the field?
Wattage is selectable at 50W, 60W or 72W, with output spanning 6400 to 9360 lumens across those settings. Color temperature is field selectable as well, and the fixture is dimmable. CRI is 80. One stocked fixture can therefore cover several different lighting levels in a parking garage, car wash or warehouse aisle instead of three separate SKUs.
    3) Can this 8 foot vapor tight LED be installed outdoors in a washdown or wet area?
It is an outdoor-rated, wet location fixture, IP65 and IK08 rated, so direct hose spray and wet ambient conditions are within its rating. Typical uses are car washes, loading docks, food processing and unconditioned garages. Safety listing is cETLus.
    4) Do I need a separate occupancy sensor with this NUVO vapor proof linear fixture?
No. A microwave sensor is built into the 65-825R1, so the fixture reacts to motion on its own with no external occupancy sensor or added control wiring. It suits stairwells, garages and back-of-house corridors where lights should only run when someone is present.
    5) Are the LEDs replaceable in this fixture, or is the whole unit thrown out at end of life?
The LED board is integrated, so there is no lamp to replace and no socket. Rated life is 50,000 hours average. For an MRO plan that means no relamping cycle on this fixture, and replacement is at the fixture level.
    6) Should I use a vapor tight fixture or a standard LED strip light in a parking garage?
Use the vapor tight. A plain strip light has an open or lightly gasketed housing and is for dry interior ceilings. The 65-825R1 is a sealed vapor proof unit, wet location rated, IP65 against water jets and IK08 against impact, which is what a garage with washdown, road spray and vehicle traffic actually needs. In a conditioned dry office ceiling the sealed housing buys you nothing.
    7) What is the housing made of, and what color does the 8 foot NUVO vapor tight come in?
The body is plastic, which is why it holds an IP65/IK08 rating in corrosive wet areas where a painted steel strip would rust out. It is offered in gray. The fixture is RoHS compliant, and carries a California Prop 65 notice for lead.
