TOTO TB221DD#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the TOTO Connelly TB221 Roman tub filler come with the valve, or do I have to order it separately?
The valve is not included. The Connelly deck-mount Roman tub filler is trim only, spout and handles, and it needs the TOTO TBMT2 three-hole Roman tub filler valve ordered separately. Budget the valve into every unit if you are doing a multi-bath rough-in, because the trim will not function without it. A drain is not included either.
2) How many holes does the TOTO Connelly Roman tub filler need in the deck?
Three holes for the spout-and-handles version, set up as a widespread installation that takes an 8 inch to 16 inch spread between the handle holes. That spread range is wide enough to drop onto most existing three-hole Roman tub decks without redrilling. The versions supplied with a handshower call for a fourth hole for the handshower itself.
3) Should I get the TB221DD or the TB221S Connelly tub filler?
The difference is the handshower. TB221DD is the three-hole spout-and-handles set. TB221S adds a deck-mount handshower and needs a fourth hole in the deck, and it stands 9-11/16 inches tall against 5-7/16 inches for the DD. If the tub is used for bathing kids or pets, or for cleaning the tub itself, the handshower version earns the extra hole. If the deck is already drilled for three, the DD drops in without new holes.
4) Is the TOTO Connelly tub filler ADA compliant for a multi-family or hospitality project?
ADA compliant, with lever handles, which is the operable-part detail that matters on a spec review. The double lever gives separate temperature and volume control without grasping or twisting. It is also WaterSense certified. For a facility standardizing fixtures, the Connelly collection covers the rest of the bath so the tub filler can match the lav and shower trim.
5) Can I use the Connelly TB221 on a freestanding tub or does it have to be a deck?
Deck-mount only. It needs a flat tub deck or platform drilled for three holes (four with the handshower), so it works on a drop-in or undermount tub set into a surround. A freestanding tub with no deck needs a floor-mount tub filler or a wall-mount tub spout with a separate valve instead. There is no floor or wall configuration of this trim.
6) What finishes does the Connelly TB221 Roman tub filler come in, and can I get the handshower version in both?
Two finishes, polished chrome and brushed nickel, and both are available with or without the handshower. Ordering codes run TB221DD#CP and TB221DD#BN without the handshower, TB221S#CP and TB221S#BN with it. The suffix after the hash is the finish, which is how TOTO trim is ordered across the whole Connelly line, so matching lav faucets and shower trim carry the same #CP or #BN code.
7) What kind of valve cartridge is in the Connelly tub filler, and will it drip like a washer faucet?
Quarter-turn ceramic disc, washerless, in a solid brass body. Ceramic disc cartridges do not rely on a rubber washer that compresses and fails, which is why they hold up in rental and hospitality units where handles get cranked hard. Keep in mind the working valve is the separately ordered TBMT2 behind the deck; the trim carries the handles and spout.
8) Does the Connelly tub filler handshower have multiple spray settings?
One spray setting. The Connelly handshower is a single-function head, so if a resident or spec calls for a multi-function wand with massage and pause modes, this is not it. For a straightforward fill-and-rinse setup in a bath or a rental unit, single function is one less part to fail.
