TOTO TBW02012U#CP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does a handshower come with the TOTO TBW02012U slide bar?
No. The TBW02012U is the slide bar itself, the wall-mount rail with square cover plates. You order the handshower, hose, and supply elbow separately. TOTO builds the bar to match its other shower collections, so pick the handshower and finish from the same family if you want the trim to read as one set.
2) Is the TOTO TBW02012U slide bar approved for commercial use, like a hotel or multi-family bathroom?
Yes, the TBW02012U is approved for commercial use. It is solid brass with a wall mounted installation, which is why it holds up in hotel, dorm, and apartment showers where a plastic bar would not.
3) Can the TOTO 24 inch slide bar be used in a tub-shower combination, not just a standalone shower?
It is rated for both shower and tub applications. On a tub deck wall you are mounting it over the bathing area the same way, with the handshower holder sliding up and down the 24 inch bar so a seated or standing user can both reach it.
4) Will the square plates on the TOTO TBW02012U cover the holes left by my old slide bar?
The TBW02012U has square escutcheon plates at each end that cover and protect the wall connection. Whether they hide your existing holes depends on the footprint of the bar you removed. Match the square plate shape to your old round-plate bar only after checking the anchor spacing, because the bar is a two-point wall mount and the plates cover the fasteners, not a wide patch of tile.
5) I'm standardizing handshower bars across a property. Is the TOTO TBW02012U the same part in every unit regardless of finish?
Yes. TBW02012U is one 24 inch square-plate slide bar with three finish suffixes (#CP, #BN, #PN), so the mounting and the slider are identical across units and only the plating changes. That lets you keep one install detail and one spare-parts line while matching different trim packages building to building.
6) Why is the TOTO slide bar tapered 3 degrees instead of straight up and down?
The redesigned bar sits at a 3 degree tapered angle so the handshower hangs slightly off the wall. That keeps the spray head clear of the tile and makes the holder easier to grab and slide. It is the current design, not a mounting error.
7) Is the chrome on the TOTO slide bar going to pit in a high-humidity shower?
The bar is solid brass with corrosion-resistant chrome plating, which is the reason to use it over a steel or plastic rail in a wet, chlorinated environment. Brushed nickel and polished nickel are offered on the same brass body.
