TOTO THP737#CMW – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the TOTO THP737#CMW part?
THP737#CMW is a TOTO drain fitting assembly with a lever-style operation, made for sink use. It is the drain body and pop-up assembly, not a faucet or a trap, so you order it when the drain hardware itself needs replacing and the faucet is staying.
2) Is the TOTO THP737 a pop-up drain or a push type?
It is the lever-operated version. The stopper is raised and lowered by a lift lever and rod linkage rather than by pressing the stopper down, so the faucet or sink deck has to have a hole for the lift rod. If your lavatory has no lift-rod hole, you need a push or grid style drain instead.
3) Can I use the THP737#CMW drain assembly on a bathtub or shower?
No. This TOTO drain fitting assembly is specified for sink use. Tub and shower drains use different body depths, waste shoe connections and overflow arrangements, so order a tub waste and overflow kit for those applications.
4) Is THP737#CMW a genuine TOTO replacement part or an aftermarket drain?
It is a TOTO factory part, ordered by the TOTO part number THP737#CMW including the finish suffix. For property managers standardizing on TOTO lavatories, calling out the full number with the suffix is what keeps the replacement drain matching the rest of the trim.
5) Do I need a new P-trap when I replace a lavatory drain assembly like the TOTO THP737?
Not necessarily. The drain assembly covers the tailpiece and stopper side of the connection; the trap below it is a separate part. If the existing trap and slip nut are in good shape and the tailpiece seats cleanly, reuse them. Plan on a new trap only if the old one is corroded or the tailpiece length does not line up.
