TOTO THP4506 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I substitute a generic M4 set screw for TOTO THP4506?
Dimensionally an M4 hex set screw is a standard metric thread, but TOTO specifies THP4506 in SUS304 stainless for its bath fittings. A plated or carbon steel hardware-store screw in the same thread will rust in a wet location and can seize in the fitting, so for a lavatory, shower or closet trim repair order the TOTO part rather than a generic equivalent.
2) What tool do I need to install the TOTO THP4506 set screw?
It is a hex-drive set screw in M4, so it drives with a metric hex (Allen) key rather than a screwdriver. Property maintenance crews servicing TOTO bath fittings should have a small metric hex set on the truck; an SAE key will round out the socket.
