TOTO TET2GBI233#SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO TET2GBI233#SS a flush valve or a complete toilet?
It's a flush valve, not a fixture. The TET2GBI233#SS is TOTO's concealed electronic flush valve for toilet applications, rated at 1.6 gallons per flush. You mount it behind the wall and pair it with a compatible wall-hung or floor-mount toilet bowl, which is ordered separately.
2) Will the TOTO TET2GBI233#SS work with a 1.28 gpf toilet bowl?
No. This valve delivers a 1.6 gallon flush, so it needs a bowl engineered for 1.6 gpf. Putting it on a 1.28 gpf HET bowl over-delivers water and defeats the bowl's rated consumption. If your spec calls for 1.28 gpf, order the matching low-consumption version of the valve instead.
3) Does a concealed electronic flush valve need a wall access panel or carrier chase?
Yes. The concealed configuration means the valve body and its control components sit behind the finished wall, with only the sensor plate exposed. Plan for a chase or carrier cavity deep enough for the valve and a means of service access before the wall closes up, because everything but the cover plate is buried once the tile goes on.
4) What is the exact part number to order for the TOTO IoT concealed toilet flush valve?
Order by MPN TET2GBI233#SS. The #SS suffix is the finish code on the exposed cover plate. Quote that full string including the suffix, since TOTO uses the same base number across finish codes.
5) Should I specify an electronic concealed flush valve or an exposed manual valve for a commercial restroom?
Exposed manual valves are faster to service, since the whole body is reachable with a wrench at the fixture. A concealed electronic valve like the TET2GBI233#SS gives you a clean wall with only the sensor plate showing and hands-free operation, which is why it gets specified in higher-finish public washrooms. The tradeoff is that the install has to be coordinated with the wall framing and carrier, and service means getting to the valve behind the plate.
