TOTO TEU3LAI212#SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO TEU3LAI212#SS a flush valve for a urinal or for a water closet?
It's a urinal flush valve. The TEU3LAI212#SS is a TOTO concealed electronic flush valve (EFV) rated at 0.5 gallons per flush, which is a urinal flush volume rather than a water closet volume. Ordering it for a toilet fixture would under-flush the bowl.
2) What does "concealed" mean on the TOTO TEU3LAI212#SS flush valve, and what does that mean for my rough-in?
Concealed means the valve body and sensor electronics sit behind the finished wall, with only the sensor plate exposed in the restroom. That requires a chase or wall cavity behind the urinal and access for service, so it is specified at rough-in rather than swapped in later like an exposed valve. If the existing urinal has an exposed chrome flush valve on the supply, a concealed EFV is not a straight swap.
3) Is the TOTO TEU3LAI212#SS a sensor-operated flush valve or does it need a handle?
Sensor operated, no handle. EFV stands for electronic flush valve, so the flush is triggered by the sensor rather than a manual lever, which is what makeses it common in high traffic commercial and institutional restrooms where touchless operation is specified.
4) What exact TOTO part number should I put on the order for the 0.5 gpf concealed urinal flush valve?
Order TEU3LAI212#SS. The #SS suffix is the finish code on the exposed sensor plate, and it is the single configuration this valve ships in, so the full part number with the suffix is what belongs on the purchase order.
5) I'm standardizing urinal flush valves across a building. Is this TOTO valve 0.5 gpf or 0.125 gpf?
The TEU3LAI212#SS flushes 0.5 gallons. If the rest of your urinals are running high efficiency 0.125 gpf fixtures, the flush volume will not match, and urinal fixtures are generally designed around a specific flush volume, so match the valve to what the fixture is rated for rather than to the other openings.
