TOTO TEU2LAIA12#SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO TEU2LAIA12#SS flush valve for a urinal or a water closet?
It's a urinal flush valve. The TEU2LAIA12#SS is a concealed electronic flush valve rated at 0.5 gallons per flush, which is a urinal flush volume, not a water closet volume. If you're replacing a valve on a floor-mount or wall-hung toilet, this is the wrong part, you need a closet-rated electronic valve instead.
2) Does the TOTO TEU2LAIA12#SS mount exposed on the wall or behind it?
Concealed. The valve body goes behind the finished wall, so the rough-in has to include an access panel or chase, and the only thing visible at the fixture is the sensor plate. If the urinal supply is run exposed down the face of the wall, a concealed valve won't work there, an exposed electronic valve is the one to spec.
3) Is the TEU2LAIA12#SS a sensor-operated valve or does the user push a button?
It's an electronic (sensor) flush valve, catalogued by TOTO as an IOT EFV. There's no handle or push button at the fixture, flushing is automatic on user departure.
4) Will a 0.5 gpf urinal valve meet low-flow requirements for a commercial restroom?
At 0.5 gallons per flush, the TEU2LAIA12#SS is a high-efficiency urinal flush volume, half the 1.0 gpf federal maximum for urinals. That makes it a common choice when a project is chasing water-use reduction. Pair it with a urinal fixture rated for 0.5 gpf, flushing a 1.0 gpf bowl at half the water can leave the trap dirty.
5) What part number do I order for the TOTO concealed 0.5 gpf electronic urinal valve?
Order TOTO TEU2LAIA12#SS. The #SS suffix is TOTO's finish code for the exposed sensor plate, so the full designation including the suffix is what you want on the purchase order, not just the TEU2LAIA12 base number.
