TOTO THP4611 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the TOTO THP4611, a handle or a cartridge?
The TOTO THP4611 is a valve cartridge, specifically a diverter cartridge for a faucet. Despite being carried under the Legato thermostatic handle name, the part itself is the internal diverter cartridge, not the external handle lever or trim plate. If you need a replacement handle or escutcheon, this is not that part.
2) My Toto tub and shower won't switch flow between the spout and the showerhead. Is the THP4611 the part I need?
A diverter that no longer redirects flow between spout and showerhead is a diverter cartridge problem, and the THP4611 is TOTO's diverter cartridge for Legato faucet trim. Confirm your trim is Legato before ordering, because TOTO cartridges are series specific and a diverter from another TOTO line will not seat in the same body. If the issue is temperature control rather than flow routing, you are looking at the thermostatic cartridge instead, not this part.
3) What part number do I order for a TOTO Legato diverter cartridge?
Order TOTO THP4611. That is the manufacturer part number for the Legato diverter cartridge, and it ships as a single item with no finish or size choice to specify, since the cartridge sits inside the valve body where finish is irrelevant.
4) Is a diverter cartridge replacement something maintenance staff can do without pulling the valve body out of the wall?
Yes. A diverter cartridge like the THP4611 is a serviceable internal component: shut off the supplies, pull the handle and trim, and swap the cartridge out of the existing valve body. The rough-in valve stays in the wall, so no tile or drywall work is involved. That is why property managers and MRO buyers keep these on the shelf for Legato installations rather than replacing whole faucets.
