TOTO THU6445#01 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly comes in the TOTO THU6445#01 bowl screw cap kit?
THU6445#01 is a pair of bowl screw cap covers, two per kit. These are the small caps that snap over the floor bolt heads at the base of a TOTO toilet bowl, in the square cotton white style. You get both covers, so one kit does one toilet.
2) Will the square TOTO cap cover fit a round base cap opening?
No. THU6445#01 is the square cotton version, so it is shaped to seat in a square recess at the bowl base. If the caps you removed are round, order the round TOTO cap for that bowl instead. Match the shape and the finish code before ordering, since TOTO uses the same bolt but different cap profiles across bowl models.
3) Does the #01 suffix on TOTO THU6445 mean white?
Yes. On TOTO part numbers the trailing #01 is the Cotton White colour code, so THU6445#01 is the cotton white cap set. If your bowl is Colonial White (#11) or Sedona Beige (#12), the cap colour will not match.
4) I am a property manager replacing cracked bolt caps on TOTO toilets. Is this the right part to stock?
For TOTO bowls that use the square cotton cap, yes, this is the replacement cover set and it is the kind of item worth keeping on the shelf. Caps get stepped on, snapped off during cleaning, or lost when a toilet is pulled and reset. Each kit covers one toilet (two caps), so buy by fixture count and confirm your bowls use the square cap rather than the round one.
5) Do these caps include the closet bolts and washers, or just the covers?
Covers only. THU6445#01 supplies the two decorative caps that conceal the bolt heads. If your closet bolts, nuts or washers are corroded, order a bolt set separately; nothing in this kit replaces the hardware that holds the bowl to the flange.
6) Can I install TOTO bowl screw caps without pulling the toilet?
Normally yes. The caps push or snap over the bolt heads once the nuts are tightened and any excess bolt is trimmed flush, so no reset and no wax ring is involved. The only reason to pull the fixture is if the bolts themselves are shot, which is separate hardware from this cap set.
