TOTO THP4897 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the TOTO THP4897 part used for?
THP4897 is a TOTO diverter assembly for shower and tub applications. It's a replacement/service part for a TBMV valve setup, not a complete valve or trim kit, so you order it when the diverter portion of an existing TOTO tub/shower valve needs replacing.
2) Will the THP4897 diverter work with a non-TOTO shower valve?
Treat it as TOTO-only. It's a TOTO service part built for the TBMV valve platform, and diverter assemblies are specific to the valve body they seat in. If the rough-in on the wall isn't a TOTO TBMV, this isn't the part.
3) Is TOTO THP4897 a complete shower valve or just a component?
It's a component. The THP4897 covers the diverter assembly only, for TOTO TBMV tub and shower valves. If you're building a new shower, you still need the valve body and the trim; this part is for servicing or completing an existing TOTO installation.
4) What part number do I order for a TOTO TBMV diverter assembly?
Order TOTO THP4897. That's the manufacturer part number for the TBMV diverter assembly, and it's the number to quote to a distributor or put on a purchase order.
5) Does the TOTO THP4897 diverter come in different finishes?
No finish choice to make. THP4897 is sold as a single configuration under one part number, so there's nothing to specify beyond the number itself.
