TOTO THP4976#BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is TOTO THP4976#BN?
It's a TOTO lift rod with knob, the small vertical rod and finial you pull to raise and lower a sink pop-up drain stopper. It is a replacement part for the pop-up assembly, not a complete drain body or faucet.
2) Is the TOTO THP4976 lift rod for a sink or for a tub?
Sink application. The THP4976 lift rod operates a lavatory pop-up drain stopper, so it belongs on a basin faucet, not on a tub or shower valve.
3) What finish does the THP4976#BN lift rod come in?
The #BN suffix on a TOTO part number is Brushed Nickel, so THP4976#BN is the brushed nickel version of the lift rod and knob. If your faucet trim is polished chrome or another TOTO finish, order the THP4976 in the matching suffix instead so the knob doesn't stand out against the spout and handles.
4) My lavatory stopper won't stay up. Will replacing the lift rod fix it?
Only if the rod itself is the problem. A bent rod, a stripped thread at the knob, or a rod that has pulled free of the clevis strap will keep the stopper from holding. Replacing the rod with the THP4976 addresses those. If the stopper drops because the clevis screw has slipped or the horizontal pivot rod seal is worn, the lift rod is not the failed part and you need the pop-up assembly components instead.
