TOTO THP4949 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly comes with the TOTO THP4949 repair part?
THP4949 is a TOTO service part consisting of a set screw supplied with its hex wrench. It is the fastener kit for a Connelly widespread faucet handle, so you get the screw that secures the handle plus the wrench needed to seat or remove it. It is not a complete handle or cartridge.
2) My TOTO Connelly widespread faucet handle keeps spinning loose. Is THP4949 the part I need?
If the handle turns without moving the valve or wobbles on the stem, the set screw is the usual culprit, and THP4949 is that screw supplied with the matching hex wrench for the Connelly widespread faucet. If the handle is cracked or the faucet drips from the spout instead, the screw won't fix it, you need the handle assembly or the valve cartridge.
3) Is the TOTO THP4949 set screw specific to the Connelly widespread faucet, or will it fit other TOTO faucets?
THP4949 is catalogued by TOTO as the handle set screw for the Connelly widespread lavatory faucet. TOTO assigns a separate THP number to each faucet family's service parts, so order the THP part that matches your faucet model rather than assuming this screw crosses over to another TOTO line.
4) Is THP4949 a single screw or a pack for both hot and cold handles?
THP4949 is sold as one fastener kit: the set screw with its hex wrench. A widespread faucet has two handles, so if you are replacing the screw on both the hot and the cold side, order two.
5) Do I need any special tools to install the TOTO THP4949 set screw?
No separate tool purchase is needed. The hex wrench that drives the screw ships with it, which is the point of the kit. On a Connelly widespread the screw is typically reached under or behind the handle, so you only need the supplied wrench and a way to hold the handle steady.
6) Does the TOTO THP4949 set screw come in different finishes to match my faucet?
THP4949 is offered as a single part number with no finish options. The set screw sits concealed at the handle once installed, so it is not a visible trim piece the way an escutcheon or handle lever is.
