TOTO THU466#PN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What toilet does the TOTO THU466 trip lever fit?
The THU466 is the replacement trip lever handle for the TOTO Promenade toilet. It is a tank flush handle, not a universal part, so it is the right call when you are servicing a Promenade and want the factory handle rather than a generic lever.
2) Is the TOTO THU466#PN trip lever polished nickel or matte black?
The #PN suffix on a TOTO part number is the polished nickel finish, and THU466#PN is the polished nickel Promenade trip lever. If you need a different finish to match the rest of the tank trim, you want a different suffix on the THU466 number.
3) I manage a property with several Promenade toilets that won't flush unless you hold the handle. Do I need a whole new flush valve?
Not necessarily. A handle that has to be held down usually means a broken or worn trip lever arm, a stretched chain, or a bad flapper. The THU466 replaces just the tank handle assembly on a Promenade, which is the cheapest fix to try first. If the lever moves the chain freely and the flush still won't complete, the problem is downstream at the flapper or valve, not the lever.
4) Does the THU466 trip lever come with a flapper or chain?
It is the trip lever handle only, a tank flush handle for the TOTO Promenade. The flapper, chain and fill valve are separate parts, so if you are rebuilding a tank rather than just replacing a snapped handle, order those alongside it.
5) Can I use a generic hardware store toilet handle instead of the TOTO Promenade trip lever?
You can sometimes make a universal handle work mechanically, but TOTO tank holes and lever arm geometry are model specific, and a generic arm often sits at the wrong angle or the wrong length for the flapper chain. For a Promenade, the THU466 is the factory-matched handle and it also keeps the finish consistent with the rest of the TOTO trim, which matters if you are maintaining a fleet of identical fixtures.
