TOTO THP5461 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the TOTO THP5461, and what part of a shower does it replace?
The THP5461 is a TOTO diverter valve body for shower and tub applications. It is the valve body itself, the part inside the wall that routes water between the tub spout and the showerhead, not the handle or trim you see on the finished wall. Order it under TOTO part number THP5461.
2) Does the TOTO THP5461 diverter valve come with the trim plate and handle?
No. THP5461 is supplied as the valve body only. If your job also needs the escutcheon and handle, those are separate TOTO trim items and have to be ordered alongside it.
3) I have a TOTO shower system that stopped switching between the spout and the showerhead. Is this the right repair part?
That symptom points at the diverter, and THP5461 is TOTO's diverter valve body for tub and shower use. Before ordering, match the part number called out in the documentation for your specific TOTO valve or shower system, since TOTO uses different THP-series bodies across its lines and they are not interchangeable.
4) Can I use the THP5461 on a shower-only installation, or is it for tub and shower?
TOTO lists the THP5461 for both shower and tub use. A diverter's job is to send water to one outlet or another, so it earns its place in a tub/shower combination; on a shower-only riser with a single outlet there is nothing to divert and you would not need this valve.
