1) Should I order bolt down, bolt up, or both on an ABH LLP ladder pull?
It depends on what you can prep. Bolt down throws into the floor and is the usual choice where there is a threshold or slab that can take a floor strike. The Ives 8103HD is a heavy duty straight door pull, 1 inch round, with through bolt mounting and no locking function at all. If the opening needs to be secured by the pull itself, the LLP is the one that does it; if a separate lock or exit device already secures the door and the pull is just a grab handle, the 8103HD covers that.
5) I need a non-locking ladder-style pull for the same glass entrance doors - what works alongside the ABH LLP?
For the inactive leaf or a door that does not need to be secured at the pull, the Sure-Loc PL-1RD round long door pull is a single-sided long pull offered with concealed or thru-bolt mounting, and the Sure-Loc PL-1SQ is the square-profile equivalent rated for 1/2 inch to 2-1/4 inch thick doors. The Sure-Loc PL-2KN is a double-sided knurled long pull if you want a matching handle on both faces. None of these carry a bolt or cylinder - the ABH LLP is the one that locks, so pair it on the active leaf and use the plain long pulls elsewhere.
6) The ABH LLP will not suit my door - it is a 1-3/8 inch residential-thickness door. What pull should I look at instead?
The ABH LLP is built for commercial leaves: glass at 3/8 inch to 1 inch, aluminum at 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/2 inch, and wood or hollow metal at 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch. For a 1-3/8 inch door, the Deltana OHP620 off-set handle pull is supplied as a back-to-back set for 1-1/8 inch to 1-3/8 inch thick doors, and the Sure-Loc PL-1SQ square long pull covers 1/2 inch through 2-1/4 inch. Neither of those locks, so a separate lockset would carry the security function.
7) Which pull do I use if the door has no floor or header to bolt into?
The ABH LLP depends on a strike point - its bolt travels 13/16 inch down into the floor, up into the header, or both, depending on which model is ordered. If neither condition exists, use a non-locking heavy duty pull and secure the door with a separate device: the Ives 8102HD is a heavy duty straight pull with a 3/4 inch round bar and 1-1/2 inch clearance, and the Ives 8169 is a C style offset solid pull, 1 inch diameter, with heavy duty mounting.
8) Can the ABH LLP ladder pull be unlocked from inside without a key?
Yes. The key cylinder goes on the exterior and the interior side gets a thumbturn. You choose between the standard thumbturn and the ADA thumbturn at order, so specify ADA where the opening has to be operable without tight grasping or twisting of the wrist.
9) What is the difference between half height and full height on the LLP locking pull?
Height of the pull itself and how much prep it takes. Half height needs only 2 holes in the door, full height needs 3. The Deltana OHP620 off-set handle pull back-to-back set is listed for 1-1/8 to 1-3/8 inch door thickness, which is thinner than the 1-3/4 to 2-1/2 inch aluminum range the ABH LLP covers. For a standard 1-3/4 inch commercial door, the OHP620 is out of range; use the LLP or a heavy duty Ives pull instead.
14) Is the Cal-Royal PUL-175 night latch cylinder pull a substitute for the ABH LLP?
They solve different problems. The Cal-Royal PUL-175 is a night latch cylinder pull, 3-1/2 inches tall, in stainless steel - it is a short pull with a cylinder hole that works with a rim night latch mounted on the door. The ABH LLP is a full-height or half-height ladder pull whose own concealed bolt throws 13/16 inch into the floor or header, so the security hardware is inside the pull rather than a separate device. Choose the PUL-175 when a rim night latch is already specified; choose the LLP when you want the pull itself to be the locking point and the door face kept clean.
