1) Will this thumbturn fit a Yale 8800 mortise lock, or only Accentra branded ones?
Both. Accentra is the current name for what was sold as Yale, and the 50-1824 assembly is a genuine ASSA ABLOY replacement thumbturn for Accentra/Yale 8800 Series Grade 1 mortise locks. An 8800 lock body stamped Yale takes the same part.
2) I just need the thumbturn on my mortise lock replaced, do I have to buy a whole new lock?
No. This is the thumbturn and its round plate only, sold as a service part for 8800 Series mortise locks, so a broken or worn interior turn gets replaced without pulling the lock body. It does not include the lock case, the lever trim, or a cylinder.
3) What size hole does the 8800 Series thumbturn round plate cover on the door?

Go to an interior cylinder instead where you need the inside locked or unlocked only by key holders.
