• Function: It features a robust, rotating top latch mechanism designed to secure the top of a door into the header strike. It converts the downward or upward mechanical force from the exit device push bar into a secure latching motion.
• Application: Used primarily on narrow, medium, and wide stile aluminum doors in high-traffic commercial or retail storefront settings.
• Benefits: It helps prevent forced entry via "jamb spreading" by interlocking the door directly to the upper frame.

1. Prevent Binding: Ensure the rod alignment is perfectly straight during replacement. Misaligned or bent rods inside the door stile will cause the latch to drag or fail to retract fully. 
2. Check the Timing: When linking the rod to the main exit device body, verify that the internal scribe or timing marks align precisely so the latch functions smoothly when the push bar is depressed.
3. Lubrication: Periodically apply a light, non-gumming mechanical lubricant to the rotating top bolt assembly to maintain smooth operation and extend the life of the spring assembly.
