1) What boards does the Aiphone AC-CA1 enclosure actually hold?
The AC-CA1 steel enclosure is sized to hold the Aiphone ACS-2DR two-door kit plus up to three additional AC-2DE expansion boards. That gets you an eight-door AC Series access control panel in one lockable can. It ships with a removable backplane and standoffs, so the boards mount on the plate rather than directly to the box.
2) Does the AC-CA1 come with a power supply, or do I need to order one separately?
Power is included. The AC-CA1 ships with an Altronix power supply built in, selectable for 12V DC or 24V DC output, so you set it to match what the AC Series boards and your locking hardware need. No separate supply or enclosure purchase is required to power the panel.
3) Can the access control panel in the AC-CA1 be tied into the building fire alarm?
Yes. The power supply inside the AC-CA1 has a fire alarm disconnect input, which drops power to the locks on an alarm signal. There are ten conduit knockouts, placed along the sides and the back of the box. The back knockouts let you bring wire straight out of the wall on a concealed run; the side knockouts handle surface conduit. Reader, lock, and REX wiring can be separated across different knockouts to keep low-voltage runs off the power side.
6) I only need to control two doors right now, but might expand later. Is the AC-CA1 oversized for that?
No, and that's the reason to buy it. The AC-CA1 takes the ACS-2DR two-door kit on day one and still has room for three AC-2DE expansion boards later. Starting in this enclosure means adding doors four and six is a board and a backplane mount, not a rip-out and re-pull of the whole panel.
7) Will the AC-CA1 power supply protect the boards if the voltage spikes or the battery runs down?
The supply includes over voltage protection and low power disconnect. Over voltage protection guards the AC Series boards and connected devices on a surge; low power disconnect cuts the load before a standby battery is drained to the point of damage.
