Aiphone IAX-100 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Aiphone IAX-100 acoustic tube extension actually do?
The IAX-100 is a 3 foot extension for the Aiphone AI-100 acoustic tube. It adds reach to an existing AI-100 assembly so the tube can serve a taller window opening, without swapping out the whole acoustic tube.
2) Will the IAX-100 work with my AI-100 acoustic tube?
Yes. The IAX-100 is built specifically to extend the AI-100 acoustic tube, and is part of Aiphone's IM Series intercom accessory line. It is not a standalone speaking device, so you need an AI-100 already in place for it to do anything.
3) My teller window is too tall for the standard acoustic tube. Is this the fix?
That is exactly the case the IAX-100 covers. When the standard AI-100 tube length falls short at a taller window, the 3 foot extension makes up the difference so the audio pathway still reaches the customer side. Typical spots are bank teller windows, security and service stations, healthcare reception, and government counters.
4) Do I have to replace the whole acoustic tube assembly if my window is taller than the AI-100 covers?
No. The IAX-100 is added to the existing AI-100 installation to gain 3 more feet of reach, so the original tube assembly stays in place. That is the point of the part: adapt the opening instead of pulling and respecifying the whole unit.
5) Is the IAX-100 extension rated for commercial use or is it a residential accessory?
It is classified as commercial hardware, intended for high traffic service points such as teller windows and security stations rather than home intercom use.
6) How do I order the Aiphone acoustic tube extension, and is there more than one length?
There is one model, the IAX-100, supplied in the 3 foot length. Order it by the model number IAX-100 alongside the AI-100 tube it is extending.
