The IAI-100 is a two-piece kit: the DR-100 speaker driver and the AI-100 acoustic I/O tube with a noise cancelling condenser microphone. Mounting rails are included, so the mechanical hardware for the install is in the box. You still supply the wire and the head-end station it ties back to.
2) Can the Aiphone IAI-100 speaker driver kit be mounted outdoors?
Yes. The IAI-100 is rated for indoor or outdoor use across 14 to 140 degrees F (-10 to 60 degrees C), which covers most exterior window and drive-up applications in temperate climates. Below -10 C or above 60 C it is outside its stated operating range.
3) What wire do I need to run for an Aiphone IAI-100, and how far can it go?
Run 2 pair (2x2-conductor) overall shielded cable, Aiphone #822202 or #821802. Maximum distance is 66 feet on either 22AWG or 18AWG, so plan the head-end location within that run. Longer pulls are not supported by the kit's stated wiring spec.
4) Is the IAI-100 a window mount or a ceiling mount unit?
Either. The kit mounts through a window or in a ceiling, which is why it is used for ticket windows, pharmacy counters, teller lines and drive-up lanes as well as overhead installs. The acoustic tube carries sound through the barrier so the glass does not have to be opened.
5) What amplifier output does the Aiphone IAI-100 speaker driver need?
The driver is a 4 ohm load with a 4.5W rated input and 6W maximum input. Feed it from an Aiphone station output within that range; driving it past 6W risks the driver.
6) Will the IAI-100 microphone pick up a voice in a noisy lobby or drive-up lane?
The AI-100 tube uses a non-directional condenser microphone with noise cancelling and -41dB input sensitivity. Non-directional means it picks up from any angle, so the speaker does not have to stand in one spot, and the noise cancelling design is what makes it usable at counters and exterior lanes with traffic noise.
7) Can the IAI-100 be serviced after the window or ceiling is finished out?
Yes, it includes an access panel for future maintenance, so the driver and tube can be reached without tearing out the surround. That matters on glass-front and millwork installs where the assembly is buried in a counter or window frame.
8) Is the Aiphone IAI-100 meant for commercial buildings or homes?
