1) What wire sizes does the Blackburn IKL54 service entrance splice take on each side?
The IKL54 is a two-conductor reducing splice: run side takes 4/0 and the tap side takes 3 to 4, per the A:4/0 B:3-4 designation in the part description. Because the two barrels are different sizes, orientation matters on install - the larger 4/0 conductor goes in the A end.
2) Is the IKL54 a compression splice or a mechanical set-screw connector?
Compression. The IKL54 is crimped with a compression tool and die, not tightened with set screws, so there is no torque spec to hit and nothing to re-torque later.
