1) What wire size does the Blackburn LAC202 compression lug take?
The LAC202 is sized for 2/0 AWG stranded conductor, or 3/0 AWG solid. It's a one-size compression barrel, so it has to be crimped on the conductor size it's rated for. Undersized cable in the barrel will not give you a sound crimp, and oversized will not enter the barrel at all.
2) Can I use the LAC202 lug on copper conductor, or is it aluminum only?
The LAC202 is an aluminum-body lug with a bare, uncoated finish. Bare aluminum bodies are made for aluminum conductor; for copper cable, or for a run where you need a dual-rated AL/CU connector, specify a tin-plated dual-rated lug instead. Check the conductor material on your drawing before crimping.
3) How many bolt holes does the LAC202 terminal lug have, and what does a slotted tang mean for my lug pad?
Two slots in the tang. A slotted tang, rather than a round drilled hole, gives you lateral play on the bolt centers, so the lug will land on a panel or transformer pad whose hole spacing is not exactly what a fixed two-hole lug expects. Two-hole tangs also keep the termination from rotating under torque, which is what most switchgear and panelboard pads call for.
4) Do I need a crimping tool for the LAC202, or can it be tightened with a wrench?
It's a compression lug, not a mechanical set-screw lug, so it has to be crimped with a hydraulic or battery compression tool and the correct die for the barrel. If you want a termination you can install with a hex key and no crimper, you need a mechanical lug instead.
5) Is the Blackburn LAC202 lug rated for 600 volt service and 90 C conductors?
Rated 600 V, with a 90 C temperature rating. That covers standard 600 V building wire and feeder cable, including THHN/THWN-2 and XHHW-2 terminated at their 90 C insulation rating where the equipment allows it. It is not a medium-voltage connector.
6) Does the LAC202 come pre-filled with oxide inhibitor or insulated?
No insulation on this lug, and the body is bare aluminum. Anything you need over the termination, heat shrink, tape, or a boot, gets added separately. For aluminum conductor, plan on an oxide-inhibiting compound at the crimp unless the connector is factory filled.
7) How is the LAC202 sold, individually or in a box?
Sold each, so you can buy the exact count a panel or feeder termination needs rather than a full carton. Remember one lug per conductor end, three-phase plus neutral means four per termination point.
