Pick the DL-2 when you need more room for conductors or a metal cap that will hold up in a commercial opening; the DL-1 is the lighter-duty choice and its caps come in white or brown to blend with the frame.
3) How many wires will fit through an Alarm Controls DL door loop?
Go by the inside diameter of the armored tube. The DL-1 gives you a 1/4 inch (.250) I.D. and the DL-2 gives you 3/8 inch (.375). If you are pulling more than a pair of conductors, or running a reader cable alongside a lock feed, the DL-2's larger bore is the one to order.
4) I need a door loop longer than 18 inches. What lengths does Alarm Controls make?
Beyond the standard 18 inch loop, the DL-2 is offered at 24 inches (DL-24), 30 inches (DL-30), 36 inches (DL-36), 48 inches (DL-48), and 60 inches (DL-60). All the longer sizes are built on the DL-2, so you get the aluminum alloy end caps and the .375 inside diameter tube. Custom lengths are also made. The longer loops are what you reach for on tall openings, wide-swing doors, or where the junction box sits well away from the hinge side.
5) Is there an Alarm Controls door loop with an ElectroLynx connector?
Yes, the DL-2ELECTRO. It is the 18 inch DL-2 loop, aluminum alloy end caps and .375 I.D. steel, fitted with an ElectroLynx connector. Order that model when the electrified trim, hinge, or power transfer on your opening is already ElectroLynx equipped and you want a plug connection instead of splicing conductors in the frame.
6) Do I need to buy mounting brackets separately for the Alarm Controls door loop?
No. Mounting hardware comes with the DL Series loop, on every model in the range. What you supply is the low-voltage cable you pull through it and whatever you need to terminate at each end.
