1) What size hole do I need to drill for the Alarm Controls PA-100 piezo buzzer?
The PA-100 buzzer flange mounts in a 3/4 inch hole on a single gang wall plate. That is the only mounting prep it needs, so if you are drilling a blank plate or an existing plate, a 3/4 inch punch or step bit gets you there.
2) Can I get the PA-100 buzzer already mounted on a plate instead of drilling one myself?
Yes. Alarm Controls offers it pre-mounted on a narrow stile plate as the TS-34N, or on a standard single gang wall plate as the TS-34. If you would rather mount it yourself, the plates are sold on their own: RP-23 standard single gang, RP-23SLIMLINE, or TS-34NPO narrow stile.
3) Will the PA-100 buzzer fit on an aluminum storefront door frame or narrow mullion?
It will, but not on a standard single gang plate. For a narrow stile aluminum frame you want the narrow stile plate, either the TS-34N with the buzzer already mounted or the TS-34NPO blank if you are drilling the 3/4 inch hole yourself. A standard single gang plate is too wide for most storefront stiles.
4) Can I mount the PA-100 buzzer in the same gang box as a push button or key switch?
Only if there is a spare 3/4 inch opening. The buzzer needs its own 3/4 inch hole in the plate, so on a single gang plate that is already carrying a mushroom button or key switch you either need a plate punched for both or a second gang. Alarm Controls sells the buzzer pre-mounted on plates (TS-34, TS-34N) if you want a dedicated device on its own gang.
5) What do I need to order along with the Alarm Controls PA-100 buzzer to finish the job?
The buzzer itself is just the sounder with 6 inch red and black leads. You supply the plate unless you order it pre-mounted: RP-23 for standard single gang, RP-23SLIMLINE, or TS-34NPO for narrow stile. You also need a 3 to 24 VDC source and whatever dry contact, relay, or timer is going to switch it, since the buzzer has no logic of its own.
6) How loud is the Alarm Controls PA-100 piezo buzzer and does it sound continuously?
