1) What size hole do the Alarm Controls LD LEDs mount in?
They drop into a 1/2 inch hole. The lens itself is 1/2 inch with a raised cylinder and a chrome bezel, so drill or punch your faceplate, pull-station plate, or enclosure cover at 1/2 inch and the bezel finishes the opening.
2) Do these indicator LEDs need a separate dropping resistor?
No. The LD series LEDs have a built-in resistor and run directly on 12 or 24 volts, AC or DC, so you can wire them straight off the same supply feeding a strike or access control panel without adding anything in line.
3) Can I buy a single LED or do I have to take a 10-pack?
Only the blue one is sold individually, as model LDB-L. Red (LDR-L), green (LDG-L) and yellow (LDY-L) come in packages of 10, so if you need a single red status lamp you are buying the ten pack.
4) How are the Alarm Controls LD LEDs wired in, and how much lead do I get?
Each LED comes terminated with 6 inch, 18 gauge leads in red, white and black. That is enough tail to land on a terminal strip right behind the plate; for anything longer you are splicing or extending in the box.
5) What colors do the Alarm Controls LD LEDs come in?
Four: red, green, yellow and blue. Typical use on an access opening is green for unlocked or door released, red for secure or locked, with yellow and blue left for whatever your legend calls out. Stock a 10-pack of red and green if you are standardizing status indication across a building.
6) Will these LEDs work on a 24 VAC door release circuit?
Yes, they operate on 12 or 24 volts and accept either AC or VDC, so a 24 VAC strike or magnetic lock circuit powers them without a rectifier or separate supply.
