Metallics J1105 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size are the Metallics J1105 wall anchors and how many come in a jar?
The J1105 is a 1-1/2 inch red vinyl wall anchor, packed 100 to a jar. One MPN covers it, J1105, so there is nothing else to specify when ordering.
2) Do the Metallics J1105 anchors come with screws?
No. The J1105 is the anchor only, 100 vinyl anchors in a jar. You supply the sheet metal or wood screws to suit the fixture you are hanging.
3) What is the red vinyl anchor used for on electrical work?
Red vinyl plug anchors like the J1105 are the standard way electricians fasten light boxes, straps, raceway, device plates and small fixtures into masonry, brick, block or plaster. You drill the hole, tap the anchor flush, then drive the screw to expand it. Metallics lists it as an electrical fastener.
4) Does the color of the Metallics vinyl anchor mean anything?
Color codes the size on vinyl anchors. Red on the J1105 goes with the 1-1/2 inch length in this range, so if the other anchors already in your van or on the job are red Metallics plugs, these match them and take the same drill bit and screw size.
5) Is the J1105 jar of 100 a reasonable stocking item for an MRO crib?
Yes, it is packaged for that. A 100 count jar of a single size keeps the bin simple and resealable rather than loose bags, which is why maintenance shops and electrical crews buy vinyl anchors this way.
