Metallics J1109 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How many anchors come in a Metallics J1109 jar?
One hundred anchors per jar. The jar pack is how electricians and maintenance crews buy these for repeat work, since a 2 inch #10-12 vinyl anchor gets used over and over on box, strap, and fixture mounting into masonry and drywall.
2) Are vinyl anchors like the J1109 the right choice, or should I use a plastic ribbed or metal anchor?
Vinyl anchors such as the J1109 are a general purpose anchor for concrete, block, brick, and plaster, where the anchor is set in a drilled hole and the screw expands it against the sides. They are not a hollow wall anchor: in bare drywall with no solid backing behind it, a toggle or self drilling drywall anchor holds better. For heavier structural loads in concrete, step up to a sleeve or wedge anchor instead.
3) What is the Metallics part number to order for 10-12 x 2 green vinyl anchors?
Order Metallics J1109. That number covers the #10-12 by 2 inch green vinyl anchor in the 100 count jar, and it is the figure to quote when matching a previous order.
4) Do the J1109 anchors come with screws?
No screws are included. The jar holds 100 anchors only, so order the #10 or #12 screws separately, in a length that passes through whatever you are fastening and still engages the 2 inch anchor body.
