Use a 1/2 inch carbide hammer-drill bit. Wedge anchors are drilled with a bit matching the anchor's nominal diameter, so the 1/2 x 4-1/4 inch JTS4414G goes into a 1/2 inch hole. Drill the hole deeper than the intended embedment so the dust has somewhere to go, blow it clean, then drive the anchor until the clip expands and torque the nut.

Yes. The JTS4414G is hot dip galvanized, which is the coating normally specified for exterior, damp, or unheated locations where a plain zinc anchor would rust. It still is not stainless, so for continuous immersion or chloride exposure a stainless wedge anchor is the better call.

No. Wedge anchors like the JTS4414G are for solid, cured concrete only. They work by wedging a clip against the hole wall, and hollow block, brick, or grout will blow out or fail to develop load. For CMU use a sleeve anchor, a screw anchor rated for masonry, or a through bolt with a backing plate.

Each jar holds 25 of the 1/2 x 4-1/4 inch hot dip galvanized wedge anchors. Nuts and washers come assembled on wedge anchors of this style, so the jar is a complete install count, not loose bodies needing hardware ordered separately.

The 4-1/4 inch length leaves plenty of thread above the concrete, so it suits thicker fixtures: strut and trapeze hangers, equipment bases, transformer and panel racks, handrail posts, ledger angles. Figure your usable embedment as the 4-1/4 inches minus the thickness of whatever you are bolting down plus the nut and washer. If the fixture is thin sheet or a light bracket, a shorter 1/2 inch wedge anchor wastes less hole depth.
