1) Will a 1/2 x 5-1/2 wedge anchor work in a poured concrete slab?
Wedge anchors like the JTS4512SS are for solid concrete, not block, brick or hollow base material. You drill a 1/2 inch hole with a carbide bit, clean it, drive the anchor through the fixture, and tighten the nut to expand the clip. Total 5-1/2 inch length means part of that length is taken up by the thickness of what you are fastening, so plan your embedment against the fixture thickness.
2) Is a stainless wedge anchor worth it over zinc for outdoor or wet locations?
Yes for anything exposed. The JTS4512SS is stainless, so it holds up where rain, washdown, or chemical exposure would rust a zinc plated anchor, for example rooftop equipment, exterior strut, pump bases, or coastal work. Indoors in dry conditions a plated carbon steel anchor of the same 1/2 x 5-1/2 size does the same mechanical job.
3) Can I use these wedge anchors to hang electrical strut and conduit racks?
That is the usual use. The JTS4512SS is carried as electrical fastening stock, and 1/2 inch anchors are the common size for strut channel, cable tray supports, transformer and panel mounting into concrete. The 5-1/2 inch length gives room for thicker base plates or standoffs.
