Metallics CSH14RF – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics CSH14RF a concrete screw anchor or an expansion anchor?
It's a concrete screw, not an expansion anchor. The CSH14RF threads directly into a pre-drilled hole in concrete, so there's no sleeve or shield to set and no need to load the anchor to develop hold. That makes it the usual choice for mounting strut, conduit clamps, boxes and panels where you may need to back the fastener out and relocate it.
2) What size driver do I need for the Metallics CSH14RF 1/4 inch concrete screw?
The CSH14RF is a 1/4 inch diameter screw with a hex washer head taking a 5/16 inch socket, and the head is also slotted so a flat blade driver will turn it. Most installers run them with an impact driver and a 5/16 inch magnetic hex bit holder.
3) Are Metallics CSH14RF concrete screws coated for corrosion resistance?
They're steel with a zinc finish and a blue coating, which is the standard duty finish for interior and protected locations. For permanently wet, exterior or chemically aggressive conditions, a stainless concrete screw is the better call.
4) How do Metallics CSH14RF anchors come packaged for job site use?
They ship in a tray pack, which is how electrical contractors and MRO stockrooms usually buy concrete screws in volume rather than in small blister packs. Handy if you're standardizing one 1/4 inch fastener across a building's conduit and strut mounting.
