Metallics TBMK1 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics TBMK1 toggle bolt kit?
The TBMK1 is a truss head toggle bolt anchor kit from Metallics, in zinc plated steel. Toggle bolts are the hollow wall anchor you reach for when there is no stud or solid backing behind the surface, the wings spring open behind the drywall or block and clamp against the back face. The truss head is the wide, low-profile head, which spreads bearing on the finished surface and keeps the fastener from standing proud.
2) Is a zinc plated toggle bolt like the TBMK1 OK for outdoor or damp locations?
Zinc plating on the TBMK1 is a mild corrosion coating meant for dry interior work, boxes, strut, conduit supports and fixture hangers inside the building. For exterior, wash-down, coastal or continuously damp locations, specify a stainless anchor instead; plated steel will bloom rust in those conditions.
3) What model do I order for the Metallics truss head toggle bolt kit?
There is one model, TBMK1. No size, finish or length options to pick, so the part number alone fully specifies the Metallics truss head toggle bolt kit.
