1) Will an Arlington NMLT liquid tight connector work with metallic flexible conduit?
No. The Arlington NMLT connectors are built for non-metallic liquid tight conduit, Type B only. Running them onto metallic liquid tight (LFMC) or standard flex is the wrong fitting and won't seal. If the conduit on your job is metallic, you need a liquid tight fitting made for metal flex instead.
2) What trade sizes does the Arlington non-metallic liquid tight connector come in?
Nine trade sizes, and the angle you get depends on which one you order. The 3/8 inch (NMLT9038) comes straight or 90 degree. Straight bodies run 1/2 inch (NMLT9050), 3/4 inch (NMLT9075), 1 inch (NMLT90100), 1-1/4 inch (NMLT90125), 1-1/2 inch (NMLT90150) and 2 inch (NMLT90200). The 0 to 90 degree adjustable bodies are 1/2 inch (NMLT5090) and 3/4 inch (NMLT7590). So if you specifically want the adjustable-angle version, it's only offered at 1/2 and 3/4 inch.
3) Can I use this liquid tight connector outdoors in direct sun?
Yes. The Arlington NMLT connector body is UV-rated plastic, so it holds up on exposed outdoor runs where an ordinary plastic fitting would chalk and crack. It's UL and CSA listed, which is what an inspector will look for on a wet-location or exterior installation.
4) Should I order the adjustable 0 to 90 degree liquid tight connector or a fixed 90?
Pick the adjustable body when you don't know the final approach angle yet, or when the box location forces the conduit into an odd sweep. It sets anywhere from 0 to 90 degrees, so one part covers a straight entry, a hard 90, and everything between, which cuts down what you carry on the truck. If the run is a known straight shot, the fixed straight bodies cover 3/8 inch through 2 inch and there's no reason to pay for adjustment you won't use. Note the adjustable version is 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch only.
5) Does a non-metallic liquid tight connector provide a ground path?
No. The NMLT body is UV-rated plastic, not metal, so it carries no equipment grounding continuity. Non-metallic liquid tight conduit isn't a grounding means either, so pull an equipment grounding conductor through the run and land it at both ends. If you were relying on a metallic fitting and conduit for the ground path, this is not a drop-in swap.
6) Is the Arlington NMLT connector UL listed for a code inspection?
Both UL and CSA listed. That covers you on commercial and industrial installs on either side of the border, and it's the line an AHJ will want to see on a liquid tight termination in a wet location.
7) I need to land 3/8 inch liquid tight into a tight spot behind a unit. What do I order?
The 3/8 inch NMLT9038 is the one to look at, and it's the only size offered as either a straight or a 90 degree body. Small liquid tight at 3/8 inch is typical for whip connections to motors, condensing units, and control gear, and the 90 degree option lets you turn straight out of the enclosure when there's no room for a sweep. Above 3/8 inch, if you want the angle to be settable rather than fixed, jump to the 1/2 inch NMLT5090 or 3/4 inch NMLT7590 adjustable bodies.
8) What color are Arlington non-metallic liquid tight connectors, and will they match my existing PVC conduit system?
