Arrow 300 26D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size is the Arrow 300 T-strike and will it drop into my existing frame mortise?
The Arrow 300 T-strike measures 2-3/4 x 1-1/8 inches with a 1-1/4 inch lip and square corners. If your frame is already prepped for a 2-3/4 by 1-1/8 T-strike with square corner mortise, it drops straight in. If the existing cutout has radius corners, the square corner plate will leave gaps at the corners unless you square the mortise with a chisel.
2) I need a strike for a deadbolt, not a latch. Is the Arrow 300 T-Strike the right part?
No. The Arrow 300 is a T-strike sized 2-3/4 inch by 1-1/8 inch with a 1-1/4 inch lip, and the lip is there to guide a latch bolt into the frame for normal door closure. A deadbolt throws straight into the frame and needs a flat strike with no lip. For that opening, the Deltana SP2753 is a deadbolt strike measuring 2-3/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch in steel, and the Emtek 83223 is a standard deadbolt strike plate with square corners that matches the square corner mortise profile the Arrow 300 also uses.
3) Our frames are prepped for ASA strikes. Will the Arrow 300 work?
No. The Arrow 300 is a T-strike at 2-3/4 inch by 1-1/8 inch, which is a narrower face than an ASA prep. A frame cut for an ASA strike needs an ASA-format plate such as the Codelocks ASA Strike Plate in stainless steel. Match the plate to the routed opening rather than trying to cover it.
4) The frame mortise on my door has rounded corners. What strike should I use instead of the Arrow 300?
The Arrow 300 T-Strike has a square corner profile, so it seats flush only in a frame mortise routed with square corners. If your existing mortise has radius corners, a square strike will leave gaps at the ends. Kwikset's KWI-80318 Full Round Adjustable Strike is a round-face strike, and the Kwikset 81825 is a 6 way adjustable deadlatch strike if you also need latitude in latch alignment.
5) Can I use the Arrow 300 as a replacement strike on non-Arrow locks?
It is sold as a genuine Arrow replacement part for Arrow lock systems. On another brand's lock it comes down to geometry: if that opening uses a 2-3/4 by 1-1/8 T-strike with square corners and the existing screw holes line up, the plate will serve. Match the mortise and lip first, not the lockset badge.
6) My latch isn't catching cleanly. Should I fit the Arrow 300 or an adjustable strike?
The Arrow 300 is a fixed T-strike sized 2-3/4 x 1-1/8 with a 1-1/4 inch lip, so it corrects a worn or damaged plate but not a door that has sagged out of alignment. Where the latch is missing the pocket because the door has dropped or the frame moved, an adjustable strike like the Kwikset 81825 6-way adjustable deadlatch strike or the Kwikset 80318 full round adjustable strike gives you movement to chase the bolt.
7) Does the Arrow 300 T-strike come with a dust box behind it?
No. The 300 is the face plate only, a 2-3/4 x 1-1/8 T-strike with a 1-1/4 inch lip. If the frame cavity needs one, order a strike box separately, such as the Kwikset 81640 strike box or the Kwikset 81231-001 metal strike dust box.
8) Does the Arrow 300 T-Strike come with a strike box or dust box?
The Arrow 300 is the strike plate itself, the visible face that mounts to the frame and carries the 1-1/4 inch lip. The pocket behind it is a separate part. If you need one, the Kwikset 81640 is a strike box and the Kwikset 81231-001 is a metal strike dust box. Order the box separately when the frame is open enough to accept one.
9) My frame prep is off by a bit and the latch does not quite catch. Should I order the Arrow 300 or something adjustable?
The Arrow 300 T-Strike is a fixed-dimension replacement at 2-3/4 inch by 1-1/8 inch with a 1-1/4 inch lip, designed to drop into a prep already cut to those dimensions with no field adjustment. If the frame prep does not line up with the latch, an adjustable strike gives you the tolerance: the Kwikset 81825 is a 6 way adjustable deadlatch strike, and the Kwikset KWI-80318 is a full round adjustable strike.
10) I need the strike to match brass lever trim on the other doors. Which option covers that better, the Arrow 300 or the Codelocks ASA plate?
The Arrow 300 T-Strike is offered in six finishes including 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 satin bronze oil-rubbed, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome, so brass trim can be matched directly. The Codelocks ASA Strike Plate is supplied in a stainless steel finish. If finish continuity across a run of doors is the driver, the Arrow 300 gives you the brass options.
11) Is this strike plate suitable for high-traffic commercial doors?
Yes, the Arrow 300 is classed as commercial and built to Arrow's commercial standards. It is used on office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, multi-tenant residential, industrial and government facilities. For MRO stocking it's a sensible plate to standardize on across Arrow-equipped openings, with the finish varied per building.
