B-LINE BA-2-16-7 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How much weight can a B-Line acoustical tee clip hold?
Each BA-2-16-7 clip is rated for 25 lbs. That covers most lay-in troffers, small fixtures, and light drops off the grid. For anything heavier, hang the load from structure above rather than off the ceiling tee.
2) Is this ceiling grid fastener UL listed for electrical fixture support?
Yes. The B-Line acoustical tee fastener is UL/CUL listed, and its stated application is supporting electrical fixtures from standard 0.56 inch T-bars. That listing is what inspectors typically want to see when a fixture is carried off the grid.
3) What part number do I order for the B-Line 25 lb acoustical tee twist fastener?
Order Eaton B-Line model BA-2-16-7. It is a single-model item, so there are no finish or size options to specify.
4) Can I use several of these clips to hang something heavier than 25 pounds?
Each fastener is rated at 25 lbs, and that rating is per clip on a standard 0.56 inch T-bar. The grid itself and the local code determine what a ceiling can carry, so heavier fixtures should be independently supported from structure rather than solved by adding clips.
5) Do I need tools to install these acoustical tee fasteners?
It is a twist fastener, 0.94 inch, meant to be set onto the T-bar and twisted to lock. No drilling into the grid and no separate screws to drive, which is why crews use them for fast fixture and box support on suspended ceilings.
