B-LINE BP-8-A6 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the B-Line BP-8-A6 acoustical tee fastener used for?
It is a top mount T-bar fastener that clips onto the ceiling grid tee and supports cable or flexible conduit above the T-bar. Sized for 1/2 inch EMT, so it is the part an electrician uses to route low-voltage cable or flex runs through a suspended acoustical ceiling without drilling the deck.
2) Is the B-Line acoustical tee fastener UL listed for use in a plenum ceiling?
The BP-8-A6 is UL/CUL listed. That listing is what inspectors look for on cable and conduit supports in a suspended ceiling, and it covers both the US and Canadian markings on the same part.
3) Does the BP-8-A6 mount on top of the ceiling grid or hang below it?
Top mount. It attaches to the upper flange of the T-bar so the cable or flex conduit rides above the grid, out of the ceiling tile plane. It is not a hanger for suspending anything below the finished ceiling.
4) What part number do I order for the B-Line 1/2 inch EMT top mount acoustical tee clip?
Order Eaton B-Line BP-8-A6. That is the manufacturer part number for the top mount T-bar fastener in the 0.5 inch EMT size.
5) Can I use this instead of drilling the deck and installing threaded rod for a cable run?
For cable and flexible conduit above a suspended ceiling, yes, that is exactly the job. The fastener clips to the existing T-bar grid, so no anchors, rod or deck penetrations are needed. Rigid conduit and anything requiring independent structural support still has to be hung from the structure, not the grid.
6) How much room does the B-Line BP-8-A6 T-bar fastener take up above the grid?
It measures 1 inch in height, 1 inch in length and 1 inch in width, and weighs .062 lb. That compact footprint matters when the cavity between the grid and the deck is tight, and the light weight means a long cable run supported at intervals adds almost nothing to the grid load.
