B-LINE BG-16-A6 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Eaton B-Line BG-16-A6 acoustical tee fastener actually do?
The BG-16-A6 is a top mount T-bar fastener that clips to the top of a suspended ceiling grid tee and supports cable or flexible conduit above the T-bar. It is sized for 1 inch conduit. It holds the run off the ceiling tiles so the wiring is supported independently of the panels.
2) Is this B-Line T-bar conduit fastener UL listed for an inspected commercial job?
Yes. The BG-16-A6 acoustical tee fastener is UL/CUL listed, which is what an inspector on a commercial or institutional ceiling job will be looking for on support hardware above a suspended grid.
3) Can I run MC cable across a drop ceiling by laying it on the tiles instead of using a fastener like this?
No, cable is not supposed to be supported by the ceiling panels or the grid itself in an unsupported way. A top mount fastener like the BG-16-A6 attaches to the T-bar and carries the cable or flexible conduit above it, giving the run a proper independent support point. That is the whole purpose of the part.
