B-LINE B750-J4ZN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line B750-J4ZN beam clamp fit a wide structural beam flange?
The B750-J4ZN is built for flange widths of 3 to 6 inches and a beam flange thickness up to 5/8 inch. If your beam flange is thicker than 5/8 inch or narrower/wider than that 3 to 6 inch range, this is the wrong clamp for the opening.
2) How much weight can the B750-J4ZN beam clamp hold?
Rated for 500 lb. That is the clamp's load capacity, so the total weight of the J-hook plus cable bundle it carries has to stay under it. The clamp itself is steel and weighs 1.09 lb.
3) Does the B-Line B750-J4ZN beam clamp come with the J-hook, or do I order that separately?
The clamp is the beam attachment only. It is made to be used with the B700-J4 J-hook, which is a separate item you add to the order. Plan on buying hook and clamp together for each support point.
4) Is this beam clamp listed for running low-voltage cable in a commercial building?
The B750-J4ZN carries a cULus Listing, which covers it for use in the US and Canada. It is an electrical support clamp paired with a J-hook for cable runs off structural steel.
5) Is the zinc finish on the B750-J4ZN suitable for outdoor or wet locations?
The finish is electro-plated zinc over steel, which is a dry indoor interior finish. For exterior, damp, or corrosive environments you want a hot-dip galvanized or stainless beam clamp instead of this one.
6) Can I standardize on one beam clamp across a building with mixed beam sizes?
Only where the steel falls in range. The B750-J4ZN covers 3 to 6 inch flanges up to 5/8 inch thick, which takes in a lot of typical bar joist and wide-flange framing, but openings with heavier or narrower flanges need a different clamp size. Survey the steel before committing to a single part number across a facility.
