B-LINE B670-3HDG – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What pipe or conduit size does the B-Line B670-3HDG parallel pipe clamp fit?
The B670-3HDG is sized for 3 inch pipe or rigid conduit. It is a parallel pipe clamp, so the pipe runs parallel to the supporting beam rather than crossing it. If your run is a different trade size, you need the matching size in the B670 series, not this one.
2) Do I have to buy separate bolts and nuts to install the B670-3HDG clamp?
No. Hardware is included with the clamp, so you are not sourcing loose fasteners to complete the attachment. What you supply is the beam or structure it mounts to.
3) Is this B-Line clamp acceptable for an electrical inspection on rigid conduit support?
The B670-3HDG is cULus Listed, and it is catalogued for supporting pipe or rigid conduit. That listing is what an inspector or a spec writer on an institutional job is looking for on a conduit support.
4) Can this B-Line beam clamp be used outdoors or in a damp area?
It is malleable iron with a hot-dipped galvanized finish, which is the finish specified for outdoor, wet, and corrosive-atmosphere work rather than plain plated steel. Typical uses are exterior conduit runs, parking structures, and unheated mechanical spaces.
5) What is the difference between a parallel pipe clamp and a standard beam clamp that hangs a rod?
A parallel pipe clamp like the B670-3HDG holds the pipe alongside the beam, clamping directly to the structure so the conduit runs parallel to the steel with no drop rod. A conventional beam clamp with a rod attachment drops the pipe below the beam on threaded rod. Choose the parallel clamp when you want the run tight to the steel and no hanger assembly.
6) Will the B670-3HDG match the galvanized strut and hardware already on my job?
It comes hot-dipped galvanized over malleable iron, so it pairs with other hot-dip galvanized structural and support hardware without creating a finish mismatch on an exposed exterior run. Property managers standardizing an outdoor conduit system can specify the same B670 series across sizes.
