5) What is the difference between an eye nut beam clamp and a plain threaded beam clamp?
The weldless eye nut on the B3293 gives you a closed forged loop as well as the 3/8 inch-16 thread, so you can pick up a rod, or hang a shackle, wire rope or chain from the eye. A straight threaded clamp only accepts rod. Choose the eye nut version when the load may be slung rather than hard-rodded.
6) What is the B3293 beam clamp made of, and will it hold up in a dusty or damp plant?
Forged steel body, supplied plain (uncoated). Forged rather than cast or stamped matters for the eye, which is weldless. Plain steel is fine for dry interior structure, but for damp or washdown areas plan on a coated or galvanized clamp instead.
