B-LINE FD3025 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will an Eaton FD3025 breaker work on a 480V three-phase panel?
Yes. The FD3025 is rated 600 Vac, so 480Y/277 and 480V three-phase systems are within its rating, and it is a three-pole device for three-phase loads. Its interrupting rating is 35 kAIC at 480 Vac, so the available fault current at the point of installation has to be at or below that figure. It also carries a 250 Vdc rating for DC applications and works on 50 or 60 Hz systems.
2) Is the FD3025 an adjustable-trip breaker or fixed?
Fixed on both elements. The FD3025 uses a fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip, so there is no adjustable instantaneous dial to set in the field. It's a straight 25 A three-pole device, which is what you want where the trip setting is meant to be tamper-free and standardized across a facility. If your drawings call for an adjustable instantaneous setting, this is not the right FD variant.
3) What terminals does the Eaton FD3025 come with, and can I land cable on both ends?
Terminals are supplied on the load side. The line-side connection is not furnished as a terminal on this configuration, which is normal for a breaker intended to plug or bolt onto panel bus at the line end. If you need lugs on both ends for a cable-in/cable-out installation, plan on a separate line-side terminal kit.
4) Will the FD3025 replace an existing FD-frame breaker in my Eaton panelboard?
If what you are pulling out is an Eaton Series C F-frame FD breaker, the FD3025 is the same frame and the same series, so the mounting footprint and frame class line up. Two things to match before you swap: the pole count, since this one is three-pole, and the trip rating, which is a fixed 25 A here. A different amperage or a two-pole original needs a different FD catalogue number.
5) Does the FD3025 come as a complete breaker or just an interchangeable trip unit?
It ships as a complete breaker, not a trip unit or a frame-only assembly. That means the F-frame body and the 25 A fixed trip come together as one orderable part under MPN FD3025, so nothing further has to be combined to make it functional.
6) How much space does an FD-frame 25 amp breaker take up in an enclosure?
The FD3025 measures 6 in height, 4.13 in width, and 3.38 in depth, and weighs 4.35 lb. Use the depth figure when you are checking clearance behind a dead front or inside a shallow enclosure, and the weight when you are mounting into a panel back pan or a retrofit bracket.
7) Can I use the FD3025 on a 250 volt DC circuit?
Yes. Alongside the 600 Vac rating, the FD3025 carries a 250 Vdc rating, so it can be applied on DC systems up to that voltage. The published interrupting figure, 35 kAIC, is stated at 480 Vac, so size your DC application against the manufacturer's DC interrupting data rather than that AC number.
