Plain finish steel, meaning uncoated. That is fine for dry interior runs, but for damp, exterior or corrosive areas you want a galvanized or epoxy coated version instead, since bare steel will rust at the hanger before the pipe does.
5) How much vertical space do I need above the pipe for this hanger?
