1) What beam or flange thickness will the BP-16-C1 clamp onto?
Maximum mounting thickness is 1/2 inch. The clip springs onto a beam flange, purlin edge, or bar joist up to that half inch; anything thicker than 1/2 inch won't seat and you need a bolt-on beam clamp instead.
2) Is the B-Line BP-16-C1 beam fastener UL listed for electrical inspection?
It is UL/CUL listed, which is what an inspector or a hospital and school facilities spec will be looking for on a conduit support. The CUL side covers Canadian installations as well.
3) Can this B-Line clip support an electrical box, or only conduit?
Both. The BP-16-C1 is intended for supporting conduit and electrical boxes off structural steel, within the 25 lb rating. For a box, remember the clip attaches to the beam flange, so mounting thickness still has to be 1/2 inch or less.
4) Do I need any screws, bolts or anchors to install the BP-16-C1?
No separate fasteners. This is a one-piece spring-steel style clip that grips the beam edge directly, 1 inch by 1 inch by 1 inch and just .092 lb, so it goes on by hand with no drilling into structural steel. That is the reason crews use it over a drilled or bolted clamp on open-frame ceilings.
