B-LINE FIG 23-3-2HL-PGL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe size does the B-Line FIG 23-3-2HL-PGL CPVC hanger take?
The FIG 23-3-2HL-PGL is sized for CPVC pipe up to 3 inches maximum. It is a double fastener strap style hanger, so it is supporting the pipe in a strap that takes two fasteners rather than a single-point clip.
2) Can this B-Line CPVC hanger be mounted to a wall or the side of a joist instead of overhead?
Side mounting is exactly what it is built for. The FIG 23-3-2HL-PGL is a side mount hanger, so it fastens to a vertical surface such as a stud face, wall, or the side of a joist, not to the underside of a deck like a threaded-rod hanger would.
3) Is the B-Line FIG 23-3-2HL-PGL UL Listed for CPVC fire sprinkler pipe?
UL Listed, per the product record. That listing is what an inspector looks for on CPVC sprinkler piping support, and it is the reason this hanger is specified over a generic steel strap.
4) What are the dimensions of the B-Line FIG 23 side mount CPVC hanger?
It measures 6 in height, 3.59 in length/depth, and 1.1875 in width, and weighs .25 lb. The 1-3/16 inch width matters most on tight framing: it lets the strap sit on a standard stud face without overhanging.
5) Do I need to buy screws separately for this CPVC hanger?
Plan on it. The FIG 23-3-2HL-PGL is a double fastener strap, meaning two fastener holes, and the fasteners themselves are selected to match what you are anchoring into: wood screws into framing, self-drilling screws into metal stud, or anchors into concrete. Order them with the hangers so the crew is not short on the job.
6) Will a steel hanger damage CPVC pipe?
Not this one. The FIG 23 is specifically a hanger for CPVC plastic pipe, so the strap profile is intended for plastic pipe rather than a sharp-edged general purpose steel clamp that can score or bind CPVC as it expands and contracts. Steel construction gives the load capacity; the design is what makes it CPVC-appropriate.
7) Is the pre-galvanized finish on this B-Line hanger okay for damp or unheated spaces?
The hanger is steel with a pre-galvanized finish, which is the standard choice for interior concealed work, unheated attics, and crawl spaces where there is humidity but no direct weather exposure. For outdoor or corrosive service, a hot-dip galvanized or stainless support is the better call.
