B-LINE FIG 22-2-PGL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe size does the B-Line FIG 22-2-PGL CPVC hanger strap fit?
The FIG 22-2-PGL is sized for CPVC plastic pipe up to 2 inches. It is a single fastener strap, so one anchor per strap holds the run. If your pipe is larger than 2 inch, step up to the next figure size in the series rather than forcing this one.
2) Is the B-Line FIG 22-2 strap for overhead hanging or mounting to a wall or stud?
It is a side mount strap. The single fastener hole lets it screw flat to a stud, joist face, wall, or other vertical surface with the pipe running alongside. For suspending pipe from a threaded rod below a deck you want a clevis or ring hanger instead, not this strap.
3) What is the B-Line CPVC hanger strap made of, and will pre-galvanized steel hold up in my building?
Steel with a pre-galvanized finish. That coating suits dry interior and normally protected locations, which is where CPVC pipe usually runs. Continuously wet, exterior, or corrosive areas call for a hot dip galvanized or stainless support instead.
4) What size fastener area do I need to plan for with the FIG 22-2 strap?
The strap measures 3.75 in height, 1.1875 in width, and .06 in in the length/depth dimension, so it is a thin, roughly 1-3/16 inch wide band. Allow a flat mounting face at least that wide beside the pipe for the single fastener. Each strap weighs .142 lb, which matters when you are pricing a carton for a large run.
5) Does the B-Line FIG 22-2-PGL come with screws or anchors?
The strap is supplied on its own. It takes one fastener, and you select that fastener for the substrate you are mounting to, wood screw into a stud or joist, self drilling screw into metal stud, or an anchor in masonry. Order those separately with the straps.
6) Can I use this B-Line strap on copper or steel pipe instead of CPVC?
It is built as a CPVC plastic pipe hanger and that is the application Eaton lists it for. Metallic pipe runs need a support rated for that pipe and its weight, and dissimilar metal contact is a separate concern with copper. Use the matching metallic pipe strap or clamp for those lines.
7) What is the exact part number to order the 2 inch pre-galvanized B-Line CPVC side mount strap?
Order Eaton B-Line FIG 22-2-PGL. The 22 is the figure series, the 2 is the 2 inch maximum pipe size, and PGL is the pre-galvanized finish. That is the full manufacturer part number, no suffix to add.
