B-LINE BCH12-RB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much cable can the B-Line BCH12-RB J-hook fastener hold?
The BCH12-RB angle bracket cable fastener is rated for a 30 lb load, carried on a single J-hook. That is the hook's load rating, not the strength of whatever you fasten it to, so the structural member and the fastener you drive into it have to carry that weight too. For heavier bundles or larger cable counts, step up to a bigger hook size or run more hooks along the pathway.
2) Does the B-Line BCH12-RB cable fastener come with mounting hardware?
No mounting hardware is included, the bracket ships as the steel angle with a .265 diameter mounting hole. You pick the anchor or screw to suit what you are attaching to, beam, stud, joist or concrete. Plan that into the takeoff, a box of these hooks does not finish the job on its own.
3) Is the B-Line BCH12-RB J-hook bracket UL listed?
Yes, the BCH12-RB carries a UL/CUL listing, which is what most institutional and government specs call for on low voltage cable support. The model number to put on the submittal is BCH12-RB.
4) Can I use this J-hook bracket to support electrical power wiring?
It is built for datacomm and low voltage cable support, not for supporting power circuits. Keep NEC-governed power wiring on its own approved raceway or support system and use the BCH12-RB for the communications and low voltage runs.
5) Is the B-Line BCH12-RB suitable for damp or unfinished areas?
The bracket is pre-galvanized steel, which gives corrosion resistance for interior work including unfinished plenum, ceiling and mechanical spaces. For direct exterior exposure or corrosive environments, a hot dip galvanized or stainless support is the better call.
